• Apartments, of course, are for long term stays [normally two weeks or longer].  It is difficult to find an apartment for just a week's stay since most are long term rentals that are for a minimum stay of two to four weeks.  the 'Residence Hotels' are included in the 'Apartement' or Condominium category.
  
  Apartments are listed by arrondisement [otherwise known as Paris districts]. Each arrondisement is unique.  Consequently, you should really check out the districts before you rent, so that you will be familiar with the essential amenities at hand before making a rental a decision. 
  
  Paris is a city where you walk to everything, including the super marché [supermarket], the 'epicerie' [grocery store] - which is basically a convenience store - to the laverie automatique [a 'self-serve' Laundromat], and of course to the pharmacie [pharmacy].  Wherever you decide to rent or lease, be sure that you have these amenities close at hand to walk to -- and of course a nearby metro station. 
  
  All pharmacies are NOT the same.  They will have either an electric sign of a neon green cross or blue framing the green neon cross above the pharmacy.  There is a big difference, only the one with blue has a registered pharmacist and can dispense prescription drugs, and help you out if you have lost or need medications.
  
  Please note:  The rooms in an apartment, consisting of the main area, kitchen and bedrooms [cuisine et chambres], are call 'pieces'.  The bathroom [Salle de Bain] is not included in the number of 'pieces'.

Info on Accommodations Continued -
The French government uses a star system for rating hotels, which also covers the apartment-hotel or residence hotel.  But, the star system doesn't apply to the bed and breakfasts.  Their classifications are dictated by the local government.   

The establishment's classification is also influenced by whether it just rents rooms, if there is an attached restaurant, if classes are given on the premises and a number of other variables . 

Renovated abbeys, watermills, and other unique lodgings may also fall under the B&B category.
